EBATINCA Develops a Cloud-Based Image Processing Platform

After receiving funding under the 2024 STARS program to promote disruptive innovation projects in the Canary Islands, EBATINCA continues developing a cloud-based image processing platform.

The objective of this project is to provide a comprehensive and effective image processing platform built on cloud infrastructure, providing companies with a variety of services, including those for both the medical and satellite sectors. The platform’s key features include data preprocessing to meet the requirements of its internal processes, data evaluation through one or more AI models, and results which are accessible to the end user.

To accomplish this project, a use case will be developed for each sector. In the medical field, 3D Slicer has been chosen as the primary tool, given its reputation in medical image processing. For satellite images, QGIS has been selected for its capabilities as a Geographic Information System (GIS) management platform.

Thanks to the open-source nature of both tools, EBATINCA has been able to develop custom processing modules. These modules have been incorporated into software images, enabling their deployment on cloud infrastructure via virtual machines. This design will allow the use of these tools without requiring any installation on the end user’s computer.

The motivation behind this project is to support medical entities with neural network-based solutions for comprehensive diagnostics and provide detailed analyses to organizations utilizing geographic information systems.

Through its focus on Research and Development (R&D), EBATINCA continues to enhance its products and services, driving technological progress with the STARS 2024 program, and transforming solutions to meet the needs of companies and industries across various sectors in the Canary Islands.
