EBATINCA participa en las Semanas de la Ciencia 2024

The Semanas de la Ciencia y la Innovación en Canarias, organized by the Agencia Canaria de Investigación, Innovación y Sociedad de la Información (ACIISI), is an annual event aimed at bringing science, technology, and innovation closer to the people of the Canary Islands. Its main objective is to foster interest in scientific knowledge, promote a culture of innovation, and highlight the importance of research as a driver of social and economic development in the region.

During these weeks, various activities take place, including interactive workshops, talks by experts, exhibitions, visits to research centers and astronomical observatories, as well as educational programs for young people and students. The event blends in-person and virtual formats, ensuring accessibility for a diverse audience and encouraging participation across the archipelago. Over the years, it has become a key reference for scientific outreach in the Canary Islands, sparking curiosity and fostering scientific vocations, particularly among younger generations.

This year, EBATINCA stood out for its participation in the Semanas de la Ciencia y la Innovación with an activity titled “Artificial Intelligence: Changing Images and Words”. Through this initiative, attendees had the opportunity to practically and interactively learn how different types of artificial intelligence are trained and utilized. The activity included live demonstrations, interactive examples, and accessible explanations, enabling participants to understand how these technologies are transforming both the scientific field and everyday life.

EBATINCA’s initiative was carried out in 10 centers across the archipelago, achieving a significant impact by reaching more than 700 attendees over the course of six sessions. This effort not only generated interest and curiosity among the public but also helped demystify artificial intelligence, showcasing its potential and limitations in an approachable and understandable way. The activity served as an excellent example of how to connect technological advances with local communities, reinforcing the role of scientific outreach as a bridge between knowledge and society.
